Hi! I’m Jenny.
I’m the type of therapist who understands that sometimes the people and places who were supposed to keep us the most safe are actually where we experience the most hurt. It can be confusing and we can really question ourselves when family members, friends or people in our spiritual communities judge us or cause us pain.
Clients have told me they feel very understood by me and that I help them learn to stand on their own. They’ve also shared that I’m both their biggest cheerleader and I know how to challenge them in a good way.
I provide therapy for adults:
No matter what you do, you don’t feel good enough. You struggle with how you see yourself and your relationships. You may have experienced low self-esteem and have difficulty saying no to others. You put everyone else’s needs before their own. You replay conversations in your head and worry excessively about what you said. You have difficulty trusting others, setting healthy boundaries, seeing your own worth, and feeling safe in relationships.
You feel sad, unworthy and overwhelmed. Through therapy, you can feel accepted, empowered, and peaceful.
I also provide couples therapy:
We feel more like roommates than partners–it can feel really lonely in your relationship. It might feel like you’ve lost the fun and the friendship you used to have. I feel lonely in the marriage We’ve lost the fun and friendship we used to have. It seems you don’t have anything in common except for talking about your kids. You’d love to improve your sex life (or even just affection), but you don’t know where to start.
You feel lonely, resentful and unfulfilled. Through therapy, you can feel loved, valued and connected.
On a personal note…
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me knitting, lost in a good book, or happily tackling a crossword, Sudoku, or other puzzles with my pets sleeping nearby. In the fall, I can be found wandering through craft shows, admiring the creativity, and wishing I was a little more crafty myself. I also enjoy live musical theater and try to see a show at least once a year.
Most of all, I love spending time with friends and family and making time for the people who are important to me. I’m always up meeting at a coffee shop, a good book recommendation, meaningful conversations, talking about faith, or going thrifting or browsing a bookstore. I’m happiest when I am connecting with people, sharing a good laugh, and hearing about what is going on in their lives.
