Sex Therapy

Is your sex life stressing you out?
- Are you worried your partner isn’t attracted to you anymore or that you are letting them down in some way?
- Does sex feel disconnected or awkward?
- Do you want to introduce something new to your sex life, but you aren’t sure where to start?
Either you and your partner argue about sex off and on, you avoid it altogether, or you beat yourself up over how your body and mind seem to fail you in the bedroom.
You’re tired of feeling frustrated, disappointed, and alone when it comes to your sex life.
Why is sex so awkward and stressful, when it seems like everyone else must have it figured out?
Why isn’t it as spontaneous and easy as it seems in the movies?
Gosh, it’s just so embarrassing and you’re not sure how to get it to a better place.
Whether sex has been frustrating you for decades, or you had an awkward night last week, sex therapy can help you get to a better place.
We get a lot of mixed messages when it comes to sex.
“Don’t be too sexual, because people will judge you.”
“Happy couples have sex all the time.”
“If your desire dips, you are failing your relationship.”
“If you love each other and have a secure relationships, you don’t have sex problems.”
“Healthy, happy people don’t have problems with orgasms.”
“Needing to try new things sexually means there is something wrong at the core of your relationship.”
And don’t get me started on the shame that can be instilled in us by high-control religions, purity culture, or even our family members.
WTF. At Love Heal Grow, we’re so over all of these messages getting in the way of our clients finding their own unique and happy sex lives.
The truth is, sexual problems are common and can benefit from support with a sex therapist.
Our sex therapists are here to help you feel calm, connected & confident
You’ve read a ton of books, listened to podcasts and even tried some tips you found online.
You have so much knowledge, but you still struggle with:
- Performance anxiety, nervousness or embarrassment
- Flashbacks or shame about sex
- Sexual disconnection in your relationship
- Problems with achieving orgasm or problems with low desire and/or painful sex
- Disagreements or misunderstandings with your partner driving you further apart
Most therapists will want to give you a bandaid–some coping skills. (But you’ve already tried those things.) Or they want to just focus on the relationship and believe if your relationship is strong, the sexual problems won’t be an issue. (That’s not true.)
Love Heal Grow sex therapists will help you dive deep into the root of the problem so that you can finally heal.
Talking about sex doesn’t need to be awkward.
You might feel nervous to talk about your sexual problems with a professional who you are just meeting. That is entirely normal.
You don’t need to feel embarrassed because all of our practitioners are sex positive, and we talk about sexual concerns with people every single day. You’re not going to surprise us, we’re not going to judge you, and we’re certainly not going to tell you there is something wrong with you.
You can also trust that we’re going to take things at your pace. You don’t have to tell us the details about anything you feel uncomfortable with. We want you to feel safe and supported, so we can take our time peeling back the layers of your experience. You don’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to.
What To Expect In Sex Therapy
A lot of therapists say they do sex therapy. Ours are actually certified.
Our founder was the only AASECT certified sex therapist in Sacramento when she founded Love Heal Grow in 2016.
For years, her phone was ringing off the hook with clients who needed a certified sex therapist after negative experiences with other therapists in town.
Love Heal Grow committed to being the leading sex therapy center in our region. At our practice all of our therapists are either:
- AASECT Certified (Received hundreds of hours of advanced training, AASECT Supervision, and have been officially approved as an AASECT Therapist)
- AASECT Trained (Received hundreds of hours of advanced training, AASECT Supervision, and are gaining hours before AASECT Certification approval)
- Love Heal Grow Trained (Received over 15 hours of advanced training and regular supervision/consultation with an AASECT certified therapist)
This makes a difference because retraumatization and shame is common when therapists do not have proper training in advanced sex therapy–and graduate school does not provide sex therapy training.
But Maybe You’re Not Sure If Sex Therapy Is Right For You…

Are you going to psychoanalyze my sex problems?
Nope! AASECT sex therapists don’t want to blame your sex problems on your “frigid mother”. That’s weird and unhelpful. Most sexual concerns can be improved with sex-positive education, effective relationship therapy, and evidence based sex therapy interventions.
Your relationship with your parents may impact your ability to trust in relationships, but spending time talking about how your parents forgot to get you a birthday gift when you turned 8 will take us off track away from actually getting you the sex life you want. (We can’t BELIEVE they forgot your birthday, though!)
Where do you stand on conversion therapy?
Eff that noise!
Conversion therapy is abusive and traumatic. We’ve supported hundreds of individuals who had traumatic experiences due to abuse and shame instilled by their families, religions, or cultures. We believe conversion therapy should be illegal everywhere.
I'd like to come to 1 or 2 appointments, will that work?
While we might be able to answer some of your questions, we won’t be able to get the full picture on what you are experiencing or provide you the type of support you might need to see real change. Please talk to your therapist about your concerns–we wish we could waive a magic wand and everything could be better, but we promise our goal is to support you as effectively and efficiently as possible. If you are worried about finances, please email hello@lovehealgrow.com for information about our low-fee options with doctoral students.
